Lundwood Family Centre: Things to Do

 

What’s on offer at Lundwood family centre?

 Lundwood Family Centre is located on Littleworth Lane, Lundwood. We offer a wide range of services for Families and their Children and young people aged 0-19 years, 25 years with a disability.

 

Our centre is open all year round, closing just for Christmas, Bank holidays and training days. Our centre has a welcoming entrance, consisting of information about what we offer as a centre and our partner agencies, as well as a friendly receptionist to greet you!

 

We have a spacious main community room where we deliver our groups and services. This room leads to a fantastic outdoor play area, accessible all year round. We also have a small private room available if families want to speak to us in private, or can be used if a mum would like to breastfeed privately.

 

The groups and services we deliver include:

 

Having a Baby

 

This is a course our Family Support Worker deliver and includes: Parental relationships, Healthy lifestyle choices / emotional health and well-being/Healthy Start,  Active birth, Breastfeeding, Baby Cares /understanding baby cues,  Attachment and bonding,  Communication and language development including coping with crying and the developing child –brain and emotional development. The course is in 2 blocks and is for 4 weeks.

 

Sensory Group

 

This group is delivered by our Outreach Workers and is aimed at babies 0-12 month. It focuses on areas around their senses with activities/themes including water, messy play, paint, lights, and more. It’s great for parents to come and interact with other mums and dads in an environment that is provided just for them.

 

Tiny Tots

 

This group is delivered by our Outreach Workers and is aimed at 0-18months. We provide fun activities and experiences for parents and children to do together. Activities are all age appropriate and we also provide a healthy snack with a sing along at the end.

 

Play Workshop

 

This group is delivered by our Outreach Workers and is aimed at 18months to 5 years. We provide activities appropriate for this age group and in the room there are other play opportunities including our small world area and our popular home corner. We also provide a healthy snack and sing along at the end.

 

Story and Rhyme Group

 

This group is delivered by our Outreach Workers. It is aimed at 0-5 years. This group is centred around Books and Reading. There are other activities and play opportunities as well as a healthy snack and singing at the end.

 

Baby Massage and Baby Yoga

 

Our Outreach Workers do a rolling programme of baby yoga and baby massage each term. Baby massage offers special one to one time with your baby and can support bonding, colic,  identify baby’s needs and can help your baby settle. Baby yoga is fun and informal which can support your baby to strengthen muscles and learn them to use muscles they haven’t used before.  Baby Massage and Baby Yoga are both bookable courses booked through the family centre.

 

Heartstart

 

This is a two hour session of basic emergency first aid, and the session covers, CPR, Recovery position, heart attack, choking and serious bleeding. Our Outreach Workers also currently deliver this in local schools to years 5 and 6.

 

After School Club

 

Our Outreach Workers have good relationships with surrounding schools enabling them to provide an after school club for both parents and children to attend.

 

 

 

Adult Learning

 

At our centre we have Adult Skills and Community Leaning courses available. Some of these courses include crafts and some are accredited Maths and English courses.

 

Baby Clinic

 

At our centre the Health visiting team run a Baby clinic bookable on the 0800 6126221 number in your red book. These appointments are not done through the centre.

 

Our sessions are all £1.50 contribution per family, all the contributions go back into the centre to enable us to provide snacks and resources.
