Barnsley College (Apprenticeship)
The Barnsley College Employer Response Unit provides work based training, employability training and Apprenticeships to individuals aged 16 and above.
Individuals do not need a referral to access our training programmes.
Individuals can apply for Apprenticeship vacancies by visiting www.apprenticeships.org.uk however we recommend that applicants attend an information session at the College which can be booked by calling 01226 216 166 or emailing firstname.lastname@example.org
Apprentices usually spend four days in the workplace and one day in College. As employees, apprentices are paid the national minimum wage for apprentices, as a minimum.
Some Apprenticeship programmes are subject to employer fees, however apprentices are not expected to pay any fees or charges.

- How do we offer support to children or young people with a special educational need or disability?
Apprentices with additional needs receive additional learning support in the form of one to one meetings with tutors and assessors, additional group tuition ad more frequent visits from assessors where required.
Where apprentices require additional English, Maths or ICT training, the College delivers Functional Skills classes.
The College is an inclusive environment which supports all learners.
The users of the College's Apprenticeship services include both employers and learners. Feedback from both of these groups is used to direct the services we provide. The feedback is gathered from a number of sources, incuding:

- Regular learner meetings with assessors
- Review meetings with employers

- Local labour market information
- Jobcentre Plus feedback

- What specialist training, experience and expertise do we have relevant to children with special educational needs and disabilities?
All staff receive mandatory training, including Safeguarding.
All staff who come into regular contact with learners with additional needs also receive enhanced training which includes Autism Awareness and Moving and Handling training.
The College employs a Health and Wellbeing Officer and provices a Health and Wellbeing Centre which can be accessed by all apprentices and students.

An individual completing an Apprenticeship with Barnsley College will spend four days per week with an employer, working in the business, and one day per week in College.
Barnsley College is fully accessible for disabled children and young people. We work closely with employers to ensure that their premises are safe and accessible.
