Hannah Jackson (Hannah's Happy Days Childminding)
As a childminder I offer a range of services such as before and after school care, day care for younger children, out school clubs for children to attend during the school holidays & a babysitting service on evenings. All children who attend the setting are treated as individuals and provided with a wide and varied range of age-related resources and activities. This supports them to learn, develop and be continuously stimulated. As a childminder I form strong positive relationships with children and their families in order to ensure that information is shared and everyone feels valued. The importance of sharing information will be particularly emphasised within the setting as I am aware that by working together both practitioners and parents can enhance children’s learning. Working together also ensures that a child-centred approach is maintained and everyone working and living with the child is aware of all aspects of their lives and can support the child as necessary.

- How do we offer support to children or young people with a special educational need or disability?

- Administration of Medication in the Early Years
- Autism & Sensory Issues

Due to the training I have undertaken I feel confident that i am able to support children and young people with special needs. I am also willing to undertake any necessary further training to meet the needs of all children.
The curriculum will follow certain topics but will also largely follow the children interests and current learning goals ensuring that each child reaches their full potential.
Children’s progress will be constantly tracked allowing both the childminder and families to know how to support children to reach their next steps.
Support will be given to children in a variety ways dependent on the support needed. All support will be discussed with parents and carers to ensure that a child centred approach is used.
At Happy Days children willl be prepared for school in many ways. They willl be encouraged to share and the importance of this, they will be taught life skills such as using the toilet, eating with a knife and fork and using manners. Children will also be encouraged to be patient and the ability to sit and listen for age apropriate lengths of time.
I strongly believe that parents and primary carers are the most valuable resources in a child’s life. Parents will be involved as much as possible allowing them to be the decision makers for their child. Dependant on the parent and carers there are many ways in which parents will be involved in the setting such as;
Discussions at drop of and pick up time (dependent upon other children at setting)

- How accessible is our setting?
The home environment is very accessible, it has three possible entrance and exit doors allowing people to use the one which best fits their needs. There is a downstairs toilet for children who are unable to get upstairs and lots of large areas which can be created if necessary for wheelchair uses and crutches etc.
