Short Breaks for ages 8 and over

Positive Activities - Barnsley Targeted Youth Support Short Breaks Programme offers a variety of sessions for children and young people aged 8-17, including a group for children and young people with an ASD diagnosis. All sessions give access to IT, arts and crafts, creative media and the opportunity to meet other young people and develop friendships.

Outdoor Activities – Based at Silverwood Scout Camp.  Activities include crafts, using games and activities, camp fire building. 

Snap Tin Café - A community cafe based in Goldthorpe offering a variety of opportunities to continue to develop life and employability skills in a friendly, safe, yet real working environment.

Reds in the Community Disability Multi Sports  - Barnsley Football Club provide multi sports sessions for children and young people aged 8-18 with a disability in school holidays and weekends during term time. Children are encouraged to take part in small group activities and team sports and make new friends to develop social skills and interactions.

Newsome Avenue - The unit provides respite care to children and young people aged 5-18 years, who have learning disabilities, autism, challenging behaviour and /or complex health needs. To access Newsome Avenue a social work assessment must take place. 

Direct Payments -  To receive Direct Payments you will have had an assessment which identifies that you are eligible to receive social care support. They aim to give you more flexibility in how your services are provided.  By giving you money instead of social care services, you have more choice and control over how your care/support is delivered.

Barnsley YMCA TYI Friday - THANK YOU IT'S FRIDAY Short Breaks Provision provides a range of youth club type activities including arts & crafts, sports & games, creative media & music, healthy living, seasonal activities, along with issue based and independent skills projects and opportunities for peer support and volunteering.
