I provide an inclusive environment, giving all children the opportunity to reach their full potential. All children require individual support, and for some this may mean adapting an activity or routine to the child's ability or stage of development, providing additional support and attention.
Schools Extended Local Offer Response
- How do we offer support to children or young people with a special educational need or disability?
All the children I care for are treated equally and fairly, regardless of their age, gender, ability, religion or race and they are encouraged to be tolerant and helpful towards those children who have additional needs.
Parent questionnaires are given out on a yearly basis where I encourage parents to be honest when providing information that may help me to improve my childcare setting.
- What specialist training, experience and expertise do we have relevant to children with special educational needs and disabilities?
I have a good working relationship with my local Family Centre and know that they would support me to direct any parents that needed specialist services and advice me where they can go to get help needed.
I have worked with various statutory agencies in the past when caring for 3 children with disabilities over the past 20 years.
- How accessible is our setting?
Setting on ground level with wheelchair access and a downstairs toilet
