Buddies Out of School Club at Barugh Green Pre-school

Buddies is a breakfast and after school club which opens at 7:30 am where children aged 4 and 11 years old can come to play, draw, and create. Then have some breakfast of their choosing e.g. toast with a selection of toppings and a selection of cereal.  We then walk the children to Barugh Green Primary school wearing high visibility jackets and take them to their classrooms to start their school day.  Then at 3:00 pm we go up again putting high visibility jackets on to walk back to Buddies.  Once back the children can play board games, dress up, building games and draw or create whilst a light tea is prepared.  In the light evenings we go out to our playground where the children can play on the climbing frame, tyres, sand and in our play house.

We are fully inclusive and adhere to our equal opportunities and inclusion policy.

Newsletters (termly),
Committee Meetings

What specialist training, experience and expertise do we have relevant to children with special educational needs and disabilities?

Liaise with school, parents and children.

Key person system operates for reception age children.

Children elect their own school counsel who put ideas forward for activities and menus.

A welcome letter is sent to all parents prior to child starting detailing how the setting is run and the names and roles of the Committee/Trustees are displayed in the foyer.

How accessible is our setting?

Activities are planned, resourced and differentiated according to each child's needs and interests per each session.  Staff get to know children well which enables them to support their individual needs accordingly.

Planned topics at school are integrated into Buddies to support learning.
