My name is Debbie Hepplestone I am an Ofsted Registered Childminder based in Ardsley, Barnsley. Rated GOOD by Ofsted on my first inspection back in 2018. I live with my husband Mark and 3 children Kian 18, Isla 9 and Logan 6. We live in a child friendly home all on one level, with a separate playroom fully equipped with a mini kitchen ideal for role play, variety of dress up outfits, books, quiet corner, learning resources and toys. We have a private enclosed garden where children can play safely, and a local park within walking distance. I offer school drop offs to St Marys School, Stocks Lane.

- How do we offer support to children or young people with a special educational need or disability?
I will use the SEND Code of Practice 2015 and the EYFS to support my assessment of children's needs and follow the 'Graduated Approach' to meet those needs. If the child's needs dictate that I require specialist intervention, this will be discussed with parents and then action will be taken to source the appropriate support.
Dependant on need but will check with parents and professionals and attend training where necessary
Will use the Early Years Foundation Stage to support needs at appropriate stage
Through observations and assessments, tracking children's progress and when parents have concerns offering support.
As a small home based setting I am more able to individualise support and opportunities to promote the well being of children
Transition will be supported to new settings/school as and when required.
Will follow what parents/professionals/care plans/Education Health and Care Plans/statements dictates
Regular discussion and information sharing generally done verbally but where necessary learning and development diaries are shared. Parents are encouraged to share what is happening outside the setting

Services are access dependent on needs of children, links with Family Centres to provide other services
Recent training on the new SEND reforms and paperwork and I am willing to undergo any further training needed to meet your childs needs.

As a small setting I am more albe to provide inclusive opportunities both indoors and outdoors and on trips
My setting is a bungalow with fully accessible toilet facilities
