Local Offer
Schools Extended Local Offer Response
- How do we offer support to children or young people with a special educational need or disability?
We have experienced, qualified staff who will identify SEND. Parents are encouraged to speak to their child's key person for advice wherever neccesary.
We would contact relevant agencies and professionals, adapting the setting depending on individual need where possible.
Regular observation and completion of development records along with tracking and the possible use of additional methods of recording development by childrens individual Key Person.
We would share information gathered through development records and methods such as EHA and TAC meetings.
We would use external agencies and relevant groups and our Equal opportunities policies and procedures reflect inclusion.
Transition visits would be arranged and meetings with new carers and teachers will take place to share information.
A decision would be made by Nursery carers, SENCO, parents and external agencies as to how much support they will receive.
Information would be shared through childrens individual daily diaries, conversation with parents, development records and if applicable training sourced for parents.
- What specialist training, experience and expertise do we have relevant to children with special educational needs and disabilities?
We would access any relevant training to assist us in caring for a child with a particular need.
Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) attends regular update meetings.
Additional training such as Makaton, Language Ladder and Elklan accessed by staff and parents- How accessible is our setting?
Outings policy and procedure adapted to support individual needs.
Risk assessments completed prior to the outing.Unfortunatley the lay out of the building means wheelchair access would be difficult and modifications would be required.
Relevant resources would be purchased and grants applied for if available.
