Kingstone Runners

Who are we?

Kingstone Runners is a small and friendly club with a good mix of both male and female members of all ages and abilities.

The club was established in 1996 as One-2-One Running Club based at the former One-2-One Gym in Summer Lane, Barnsley and became affiliated to the North of England Athletics Association (NoEAA) in January 1997.

The club moved to the LivingWell Health Club at Dodworth in January 2006 and changed its name to LivingWell Barnsley Running Club.  Membership increased as Health Club members started to join us for runs.  LivingWell then became Bannatynes.

In October 2007 we moved to Kingstone Sports Centre on Broadway in Barnsley and the club name changed again, to Kingstone Runners.  The club logo is based on the lights of the Sports Centre (now demolished) as viewed from Broadway.

When Kingstone School closed, we moved to the new Horizon Community College in September 2012 for a short while.  Our present home, from 10th December 2012, is Honeywell Sports Centre; part of Barnsley Sports Academy.  However, our name remains the same; Kingstone Runners.

The club welcomes new members and potential new members.  The annual subscription to the club is £20 which includes affiliation to England Athletics and use of showers, lockers and changing facilities at training sessions.  To supplement this income, we have a voluntary ‘bonus ball’ draw each week on Wednesday.  An Annual General Meeting is held in December.

Whether you want to run to improve fitness, lose weight or just meet people and chat, you’re welcome to join us.

For further details, come along to a training session on Monday or Wednesday just before 7pm and talk to us or email us at
