How do we offer support to children or young people with a special educational need or disability?

I assess children against the EYFS Early Learning Goals and plan to their needs. If I identify any areas of concern with their development, I talk to parents so they can go to their health visitor/doctor for help

Each child is unique. I work with the child, parents and other professionals to support children as necessary.

I observe, assess to plan acticvities and opportunities to each child's needs.

I share information on a daily basis, individual learning journals and for two year old and nursery education funded places recieve a report once a term.

I work with another childminder and find out each child's and families individual needs. We value each child's uniqueness and work with parents to give the appropriate level of support

With parents, other pforessionals depending on the child's needs. If necessary 1 to 1 and the impact on the other children.

Parents are welcomed in my setting. It improves children's outcomes if we work in partnership. I have a parent questionnaire, feedback is very important to me. I share information on a daily basis, learning journals, children on funded places get a report once a term. Parents are able to contribute ideas and attend special events.

What specialist training, experience and expertise do we have relevant to children with special educational needs and disabilities?

No spescialist training but can access external support when necessary

I have undertaken basic training in:

Makaton, Epi-pen, autism awareness, epilepsy, Asperger syndrome course and SEND champions

How accessible is our setting?

All children are included whatever their ability. I have risk assessments and full permissions in place.

Wheelchair accessible, downstairs toilet

In partnership with the child's needs and parents & outside agencies as appropriate. If necessary I can apply for additional resources
