- How do we offer support to children or young people with a special educational need or disability?
Prior to children starting at the Family Centre we will meet with the family to complete a parent/carer contract. During this time we discuss childrens individual needs and if any additonal support is required.
All inductions are tailored to meet children's individual needsand to support their transition into the nursery environment.
Thurnscoe Family Centre has A special Educational Needs Coordinator who will do the following:
They will offer support ansd guidance to each family and child who requires additonal support within nursery. They will liasie with other professionals to ensure children are getting the best possible support with thier individual learning and development.
The SENCO will attend meetings to discuss your childs development and work alongside the family and professionals to identify startegies that will support a childs learning and development.
As a Family Centre we will also identify if the staff team requires any additonal training to support the children within the setting.
During the induction process all children are alloacated a key person.
They will observe each child and identify thier likes and dislikes and incoporate these in to the daily planning.
At the end of each term your child's Key person will complete an end of term review, which clearly identifies how your child is progressing, amnd what you can do to continue this outside of the setting.
We also have daily chats with parents and carers to discuss your child's wellbeing and any experiences they have had whilst in nursery, thids also gives you the opportinity to share with staff what they may have been doing at home.
Throughout the year we have two parent chat days where you come in for a formal discusiion about your child's progress and how we can work together to support their leaning and dvelopment.
Your Childs learning journey is readily available to view and we welocme you to provide your own comments and oictures into their learning jorney.
Your child's progress is monitored every term through robust tracking systems. These sytems enable your childs key person to to fully support yur childs overall wellbeing.
At Thurnscoe Family Centre we work within the Early Years Framework and and the centre is highly committed to ensuring each child is equipped for their future learning.
As part of our transition process we work very closely with local schools to ensure a smooth yet effective transiton takes place. Your children progress will be shared with their next setting to ensure that the correct resources are in place to continue to support your child's learning and developmnet.
Any child who reqwuires additional support or services are offered an Early Help Assessment, which is a line of support used to ensure that both the child and their families needs are fully supported through multi agency working.
