Direct Payments are cash payments made to people in lieu of social care support. To receive Direct Payments you will have had an assessment which identifies that you are eligible to receive social care support. Direct Payments aim to give you more flexibility in how your services are provided. By giving you money instead of social care services, you have greater choice and control over your life and are able to make your own decisions about how your care/support is delivered.
The Brokerage and Support Team
The Team helps people with all aspects of arranging and managing direct payments. This includes understanding how direct payments work, recruiting and employing Personal Assistants, managing the budget, completing financial monitoring returns and any queries or problems.

Support with Confidence
Support with Confidence is a Personal Assistant approval scheme. A Personal Assistant is someone who is paid to help service users with aspects of their day to day lives and support needs.
The terms and conditions of work such as start and finish times, hours of work etc are agreed with the service user at the start of the employment just like in any other job.
To become an approved PA the individual will complete a seven day induction training programme, supply two references and also complete a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service Check - DBS (formerly CRB check)
Once approved their details will be uploaded onto the Support with Confidence directory which you can view if you wish to employ a Personal Assistant.
