Barnsley Archery Club

Barnsley Archery Club is a family orientated Club who aim to provide a safe, friendly and fun atmosphere for archers from the age of 8 no matter what their level of experience 

We have a well earned reputation for being a friendly club and always willing to accept suggestions from members on social activities.

We meet at two venues: Honeywell Sports Village for Indoor shooting and Shaw Lane Rugby Club for Outdoor Shooting.

We have both indoor and outdoor facilities available to allow shooting all year round.
The Club outdoor shooting times are:

Wednesday evening 6.30pm til 9.30pm
Friday evening 6.30pm til 9.30pm
Saturday afternoon 1.00pm til 4.00pm
Shooting outdoors is subject to available daylight.


Indoor shooting times are:
Wednesday evening 7.30pm til 10.00pm
Friday evening 7.30pm til 10.00pm
Saturday 11.00am til 4.00pm

(please note beginners courses are normally held Saturday 11.00am - 1.00pm)

All bow styles, ancient and modern, are represented, and members take part in the full range of archery disciplines with great success, at all levels including National and International. The club practices traditional target archery and clout archery. Members of the club are active and successful in competition.

Joining the Club

Before you apply for membership of the club you must have completed a beginners course.


Club fees are £80 for Seniors and £40 for Juniors per year and pro-rata if joining through the year.

Membership runs from 1st Jan to 31st Dec. Membership fees are due by 1st January each year.


Shaw Lane membership fees are £10.00 per year for Seniors and £6.00 per year for juniors; please note these are in addition to club fees.


GNAS fees are £46.00 for seniors and £3.00 for juniors. GNAS fees are due in August each year

Beginners Courses

Details of courses will be posted in the Club News and Events, Calendar section of our wesite. Typically these run for six sessions, once or twice per week to achieve 12 hours of coaching. The total cost of a course is £50.00 (less any deposit paid). This fee includes use of club equipment.


The courses are open to both Seniors and Juniors. Juniors need to be 8 or over to take part and a parent/ guardian must attend. The courses are designed to get you up to a standard where you can shoot safely, enjoyably and with accuracy.
If you wish to attend a scheduled course, please complete the registration form which can be found in the ‘Documents’ section
Send the completed form along with a £5.00 deposit to the Club Secretary (the address can also be found in the 'contact us' section.)


You will be contacted to confirm your attendance on the course of your choice. Acceptance on a course will be on a first come first served basis. We do however operate a waiting list system.

Taster Sessions

Taster sessions are usually held throughout the year and usually before a beginners course - details
of any taster session will be posted in the Club News and Events, Calendar section on our website.

If you wish to attend a scheduled course, please complete the registration form which can be found in the ‘Documents’ section
A taster session runs for 2 hours at a cost of £20.00 per person.
