Schools Extended Local Offer Response
- How do we offer support to children or young people with a special educational need or disability?
Children are identified by key persons when observing that child. If a parent feels their child has individual needs they must speak with their child's key person and/or the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO)
Children with individual needs may have an Support Plan which identifies how we can try and develop in the areas which they need special attention.
Parents of children with individual needs will have regular meetings with that child's key person and the SENCO to ensure we are monitoring, planning and evaluating for that child. If any other professionals are needed to be involved with the child we can liaise with these agencies to gain this.
Through meetings with parents, SENCO, key person and other professionals involved with the child
Parents/carers are invited into setting on a daily basis but we also have parents meeting, spring walks, Easter and Christmas activity mornings.
- What specialist training, experience and expertise do we have relevant to children with special educational needs and disabilities?
We have strong links with inclusion services which is whom we refer to if we feel the setting requires support to be able to provide for a child's individual needs.
Safeguarding Lead Training.
- How accessible is our setting?
Depending on the child's individual need we will try to ensure by putting extra things in place that all children can access all activities, for example one to one ratio when going out of the setting.
Through observations of the children we can allocate resources.
