Susan Sephton-Ford
My name is Susan Sephton Ford and I have been in childcare for 34 years, I have a passion for children and the experiences I can offer to enhance their well being and development.
I have cared for children with additional needs and who have had complex behaviour issues. I can accept a challenge and create an environment that allows children to work through any issues they may face in a secure and safe setting.
I was graded outstanding by Ofsted and continually improve my setting and complete mandatory training when required.
My setting is Montessori inspired, allowing children to engage in “real life” resources, the setting is split into two areas one being a playroom set in the house which is split into two rooms .. the larger room has a small bathroom so children are within easy reach of adult support if required. This room is usually used for children aged 5+ the smaller room is a space where quiet play happens with a calmer atmosphere this is particularly good for children who are needing a quiet space to relax.
We also have a huge cabin in the garden which is set up especially for under 5s with an amazing role play area, messy play area, and art and craft area to allow children to enjoy their creative flair.
The rear garden is totally secure and houses a rabbit called smokey, it has a mud kitchen and an area which we have named “dinoworld” this is on three separate levels which encourages gross motor skills and safe risk taking which is all part of what we as adults have- the skills embedded from the experiences we gain.
The front garden has AstroTurf and secure gate to allow older children to play outside safe in the knowledge that they are enjoying the outdoor space which is important after a day at school.
My Home has wheelchair access and I am more than happy to undergo any training needed to ensure a child with additional needs can feel part of our setting.
I have an assistant who works part time with me, this means we can offer places to more children.
The schools we collect from is Darton and Wellgate.
I drive a 9 seater Mercedes Vito, fully insured with mot and regular servicing.
I supply food, wipes and sun cream.
We are a very professional setting but also very relaxed and you will feel that as soon as you enter the setting.

NOTE: I have 2 cockerpoos, who mix with the children and the children can interact with them and get the feel of how important it is to care for animals.
Cockerpoos are animals which don’t shed hair so are good for allergies and they have excellent temperament and research shows that petting animals has a “feel good factor”
