Playdays Nursery Grimethorpe

Playdays Nursery is a brand new nursery opened in Grimethorpe in September 2016.

We have a dedicated Baby room for babies aged from 12 weeks old.  We understand the importance of following your child's routines and ensure we work in partnership with parents to provide a caring environment. In our baby room we have a seperate sleep room which is equipped with a cot, mattresses and a soothing bubble machine.

Our 2-5 year room is a large open plan room which provides space for children to explore the different areas of the room freely.

Children have access to 2 outdoor spaces, one of which is an astroturf section and a paved section which has a sand area, mud kitchen and variety of ride on's and cars.

Our well qualified, enthusiastic and creative staff are devoted to providing the best possible care and plan activities to meet children's individual needs.

Playdays Nursery is open from 7.30am to 6.00pm all year round with the options of 5 hour morning/afternoon sessions and full day sessions which enables us to provide childcare to meet your needs.

We have staff members who are training in Visual Impairment and Hearing Impairment.

We give feedback to parents in the baby room with a daily record book which provides you with information such as activities they have done throughout the day, nappies, sleeps, bottles and any relevant information you may need to know.

We have an accesibilty ramp to enter our setting and an accessible toilet.

We give regular feedback to parents by having a facebook page that is updated regularly, newsletters and a parents views board in reception.

Schools Extended Local Offer Response

How do we offer support to children or young people with a special educational need or disability?

Observations are carried out on children within the setting by their key worker and we will work with parents if they have any concerns or questions about their child's development. Our SENCO (Special educational needs co-ordinator) will then work with the parents to ensure support and guidance is given.

We will support your child by ensuring we follow routines that you use at home, carry out relevant training and have regular updates and meeting with parents and external agencies.

We follow your child's interests, this will ensure your child is engaged in activities throughout the day.

We have regular parent's evening to keep in contact with parents and key workers are always on hand to speak to you about your child.

We support your child by following the EYFS ( Early Years Foundation Stage) and ensuring that all of the guidlines are met.

We ensure our staff have relevant and up to date First Aid and our staff attend training to keep up to date with latest information.

We offer settling in sessions before your child starts our nursery and your child will have a key worker to help them along with their settling in.

What specialist training, experience and expertise do we have relevant to children with special educational needs and disabilities?

We have specialised training in MAKATON, Hearing impairment and visual impairment.

How accessible is our setting?

We will Risk assess every outing before going out and ensure we have extra staff avaliable if needed and that every child is able to participate in the outing.

There is an access ramp to the main entrance and an accesible toilet.
