Jenny Tots Childminding
Hello, my name is Jenny. I live in Stairfoot area of Barnsley. I have 3 children of my own, one girl currently aged 10 years old and two boys who are 7 & 2 years old & live with my partner in which we are both DBS checked.
I have completed the childminders pre-registration course for childminders in the Barnsley area and I'm now a fully registered Ofsted Childminder.
I provide a home based care in a fun, caring and stimulating family environment for children from birth to 11 Years.
I have many years experience working with children through my years working. We moved to Barnsley a year ago from Sheffield where I was previously a childminder there.
I have worked in a children's residential care home for 9 years providing 24 hour care for children and young people, ensuring boundaries are maintained, routines were followed and helping and supporting them to reach goals/targets and ambitions. Giving them opportunities to try new things by taking part in activities and social trips , encouraging them to socialize with others, within this I have worked with children and young people with various needs.

- How do we offer support to children or young people with a special educational need or disability?
I work in partnership with parents and as such at any initial visit and induction I will spend time speaking to parents about your child's individual need.I will refer parents to appropriate agencies.
I work within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and if I believe that your child would benefit from additional support I will work in partnership with you to provide any additional support and advice that you need.
I will support any children in any way that they need. Should your child need any specific training that I do not currently hold I am happy to discuss this with you to see if the training is available for me to access. I will work with you to ensure that you feel comfortable leaving your child with me.
The Early Years Foundation Stage is an individualised play based curriculum, as such all children are unique and I work on an individual basis to help children make the progress they require before starting school and beyond.
Good communication is the most important aspct of ensuring good progress for your child. I will share on a daily basis the learning achieved during the day and then on a termly basis we will take time to speak and discuss where your child is in relation to learning and how you can support your child's learning at home.
Each child will be treated as individual and their personal, social, emotional development underpins the whole curriculum. We will discuss your childs individual progress on a termly basis but I am happy to speak to you each day at drop off or collection time.
I will work with you to ensure that your child is ready for the next stage of their education along with any other professionals including staff from other nursery settings where your child may attend as well as working in partnership with other specialists that may be involved in the care and support for your child.
I provide regular updates and I welcome feedback in relation to my setting and working with your child. You are free to talk to me at both the drop off time and collection time if you feel the need to discuss any issues.
- What specialist training, experience and expertise do we have relevant to children with special educational needs and disabilities?
I work with support from the Local Authority and as such have a wide range of specialists available to ask for advice and support. If you have any specific needs then please ask to speak with me and I will endeavour to access the required support to to fully meet the needs of your child.
I am Paediatric First Aid Trained.
- How accessible is our setting?
Whenever we arrange trips out from the setting I do not exclude any of my children and I will work with you to ensure that your child would be included. I share all information regarding forthcoming trips with parents beforehand and these are risk assessed prior to the visits.
I will work to make sure that your child is able to accss resources that are beneficial to your childs individual need. This may involve hiring out specialist equipment over a preiod of time with support from the Local Authority.
