Andrea Goldthorpe (Childminder)
My name is Andrea Jane Goldthorpe, and I am a 41 year old mum of two boys, who are 10 years and 5 years old. I have lived in Great Houghton with my husband since 2003. I was approved by OFSTED as a Childminder in October 2014, but prior to that, I had worked part time on a weekend, however I decided to take up Childminding as I wanted to offer working families a reliable, flexible childcare option. At my recent inspection by OFSTED (September 2016), I was given a "Good" rating. Whilst attending my setting, children will be encouraged to take part in stimulating activities such as outdoor play in a safe secure garden area, messy craft activities including water play, art and design and outdoor visits to local places of interest such as RSPB Wetlands, Cannon Hall, and local play centres. I also have a designated indoor play room for children to play in. I am able to provide drop off/collection for children who attend Sandhill Primary School in Great Houghton, as well as being able to offer funded places for 2, 3 and 4 year olds (subject to space availability). Also, I will be willing to offer childcare for parents wishing to take advantage of the new 30 hour childcare entitlement from September 2017 (subject to availability of spaces). Please feel free to contact me by e-mail, or mobile, to discuss your childcare requirements.

Schools Extended Local Offer Response
- How do we offer support to children or young people with a special educational need or disability?
Children's development will be measured against the Early Years Foundation Stage framework to identify any areas of extra help. Parents will be able to talk to me if they have any concerns so we can provide the best care for their child.
Every child is unique and support will be tailored to their specific needs. By working in partnership with a child's parents and any other professionals that may be working with the parents to support the child's development.
Observation will help identify how children are progressing, and parents will be made aware of observation outcomes and will be encouraged to discuss with me how we can work together to support their child's learning journey.
As each child is unique, I will work with the child and their parents to ensure the emotional and physical well being is catered for through talking and being involved in the child's care.
- What specialist training, experience and expertise do we have relevant to children with special educational needs and disabilities?
Ongoing training provided by the Local Authority e.g Quality Improvement Course
- How accessible is our setting?
There is a ramp approaching my front door providing easy access to my house. The door frames allow access with wheelchairs and there is plenty of floor space allowing access to activities.
Following observation/guidance from Early Years Foundation Stage Framework resources will be used to purchase items/equipment to enhance a child's development
Children will be encouraged to help choose where outdoor trips/activities take place so as to ensure they have fun there.
