Local Offer

We are an inclusive nursery that provides for a variety of children where we take into consifertion the individual needs of children.  Families should approach us and discuss any individual needs of their children with us as we would make reasonable adjustments wherever possible to meet the needs and support them reaching their full potential.

Schools Extended Local Offer Response

How do we offer support to children or young people with a special educational need or disability?

Children are supported and encouraged to be an individual and are guided through learning at their own pace.

Children under 5 have a diary and report sheets are used to feedback to parents/carers, additionally parents have discussions with key people at drop off and pick up daily.  Children have files and workbooks and these are also available for parents to access at any time as well as open to have their feedback included whenever parents can.

All adults here at Rascalz consider children's well being to be the first priority.  Children are cared for in a safe and considerate environment that also fosters an inclusive and caring ethos for all.

Children are supported in their school life by staff attending school concerts and sports days etc which also supports children that are going to be moving up to school.  This enables children to become familiar with teachers and the environment as we work with school on an ongoing basis.

What specialist training, experience and expertise do we have relevant to children with special educational needs and disabilities?

As a setting we would access support and guidance from a variety of agencies including medical professionals (health visitors, diabetic nurses and specialists) and local authority inclusion services (educational psychologists, sight/hearing impairment specialist teachers etc).

Staff have experience of working with mackaton, children with autism, diabetes, limited hearing and hearing impaired and also children with allergies that require epi-pens.

How accessible is our setting?

If children require any specialist or individual resources, the setting would ensure that they available when and as necessary.  The setting would if necessary make use of the Inclusion Grant from the local authority to purchase any larger items that a child needs to ensure they can access the setting (wherever possible).
