Trans Pennine Trail Conservation Volunteers Penistone - Dunford Bridge
We are the Trans Penine Trail Conservation Volunteers; Penistone - Dunford Bridge
Trans Pennine Trail Conservation Volunteers Penistone - Dunford Bridge (TPTcv) is a voluntary organisation which carries out practical work on the Trans Pennine Trail between Penistone and Dunford Bridge.
We hold Family Work days on Wednesday during the school holidays; maintaining the Trail as a pleasant natural environment both for the wildlife and the general public.
Newcomers are very welcome; no experience is necessary - if you would like to come along please see FAQ; look at the Workdays page for details of upcoming workdays, or contact us for further information.
TPTcv is also developing the potential of the Trail by installing picnic facilities, information about the environment, and the history of the route when it was a busy railway line.
TPTcv has no income of its own, and is very grateful to members of the public who have kindly made donations to support our work on this section of the Trail.
Newcomers are welcome - no experience is necessary. We supply free tea, coffee, fruit juice and biscuits, morning and afternoon, on all workdays - if you'd like to be kept informed about upcoming events, please send us your details.
Weather: If you are at all unsure about the forecast, please check the website to make sure the workday is going ahead before setting out. Workdays will be postponed or cancelled in bad weather, or if there is serious risk to volunteers. Don't forget waterproofs and sun cream!
Changes to advertised dates/sites: Dates and sites are subject to alteration due to the weather/technical difficulties/volunteer availability or etc. It's always a good idea to check before setting out on the day.
Midweek Workdays 10.00 am - 4 pm
Normally held on Wednesdays, even in the school holidays - bring the kids, get some fresh air!
What should I bring?
- Old clothes
- Work gloves if you have them; waterproof gloves are recommended if the weather has been wet, with an inner pair of gloves if it's very cold.
- Stout (waterproof if wet) footwear. Plenty of room in your boots, and two pairs of socks, will keep your feet warm in the winter.
- Waterproofs - make sure your waterproofs really are waterproof; it's very easy to get cold once you're wet.
- Sun screen
- Lunch - we supply free tea, coffee, fruit juice and biscuits in the morning and afternoon
We're happy for you to bring your own tools (in good condition) if you prefer. A bow saw and a pair of loppers is all you're likely to need, and you may want to mark them so that you can easily identify them.
