Shaw Lane Sports Club Opportunities for Young People

Shaw Lane Community Sports Centre Shaw Lane CSA has been instrumental in engaging with the local community and has forged links with many community groups who deal with the more vulnerable members of society. Through the efforts of Shaw Lane CSA the site is now a venue where vulnerable groups feel comfortable and safe. It is well lit, warm and has plenty of car parking and grassed areas and is fully accessible by all. Because it is seen as being a sporting venue, the area and site is recognised as neutral by all communities.

We are a registered charity striving to help the community ( ). There are seven sports based at Shaw Lane; archery, bowling, cricket, athletics, rugby, squash and football. All sports are always looking for new members.

As well as the junior set-up, the senior teams are well respected and we encourage support of the public to attend matches.  Barnsley RUFC  regularly achieve crowds in the region of 200. Barnsley Cricket Club were runners up in this year’s Yorkshire Cup and Barnsley Squash Club are Yorkshire champions!

Barnsley RUFC have a very successful girls and ladies rugby team with training taking place on a Wednesday night. 6pm for Girls U13’s & U15’s, 6.30pm for U18’s And 7pm for the ladies. Last season we had several players feature for Yorkshire and two for the North of England team.

Touch rugby takes place on Thursday night 6pm-7pm. Free and open to everyone over the age of 16.
