Donna Louise Shenton

I offer a relaxed, child centred, homely environment where children are able to learn through play. I plan and monitor their development using the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum, ensuring my activities are fun and educational.

I hold a level 6 BA Hons degree in Early Years as well as a nursery nursing level 4 qualification and am Ofsted rated 'outstanding'.

I have 11 years of post qualifying expereince of working with children and babies - 7 years of this was within a Special Educational Needs setting, therefore I have significant expereince (and training ) of working with children who have additional needs.

My setting is fully risked assessed daily. it is spacious and includes and enclosed garden. I have a wide range of toys and equipment to suit a variety of ages. I also regularly take the children out to playgroups, library sessions and the park.

Children in my setting have home link books where I provide a diary of the children's day along with essential information such as sleeping and feeding

I am able to offer government 15 hour funded places for eligible 2 year olds, and free 15 or 30 hours nursery education for 3 and 4 year olds.

I am close to the hospital, town centre and junction 37 of the M1

How do we offer support to children or young people with a special educational need or disability?

Risk assessments will be done and any adjustments to the setting (including resources) or staff (including training) will be made prior to your child commencing

I have informal chats at drop off and collection times, but sometimes send out parent questionnaires for feedback.

What specialist training, experience and expertise do we have relevant to children with special educational needs and disabilities?

Various training through Greenacre School (where I worked for 7 years).  This includes Sensory Impairment, Autism Awareness, British Sign Language, Makaton, Moving and Handling, Tube Feeding.

How accessible is our setting?

Adaptations will be made where necessary - will discuss this prior to commencement.
