Mental Health : How to Get Help
If you are concerned about your mental health, or the mental health of a family member or friend, you can ask for help from the Barnsley Mental Health Service: Single Point of Access on 01226 6449000.
Lines are open Monday – Friday between 9:00am and 5:00pm, someone will answer your call take some details and a duty worker will call you back as soon as they can.
This team can help with:
- low level stress
- low mood
- mild depression and anxiety
You can still self-refer online here, but if you are experiencing more severe mental health issues you should see your GP first of all so they can refer you for the right level of support.
If you have had thoughts of suicide or self-harm within the past week which you have wanted to act upon, please contact:

- NHS 111
- Your GP
You can also report to A&E with a severe mental health problem.
In the event of an emergency, or if you require immediate medical attention, please call the emergency services by dialling 999.
