Little Explorers Childminding (Jessica Durrans)

We are little explorers childminding, a team of 3 professionals working together. One OFSTED registered childminder and 2 registered assistants and we were recently graded Good by OFSTED 

I live in Hoyland with my husband and 3 children and our dog. We live in a large semi-detached house with an enclosed garden and We aim to provide a caring home from home environment supporting and enabling children to grow to their full potential.

We are Forest Childcare Providers and We believe that spending time outdoors is very important. The children go outdoors here every day, at least once a day, no matter what the weather because We believe that fresh air and wide-open spaces are good for them! We have a fully enclosed back garden that the children can access whenever they want. But we also live near to lovely parks, woodland areas and nature reserves and we visit one of these places at least once a week.

My Experience

I have over 5 years’ experience of working with young children and running holiday clubs and children's activities and became OFSTED registered as a childminder as I enjoy working with children and watching them grow and explore the world around them and aim to help them develop and grow.

Spaces and collections

We currently offer funded places for eligible 2, and all 3&4-year olds 
We offer 30hours funded childcare to all eligible 3&4-year olds.
I have immediate vacancies for under 5s and school pickups including holiday care and wrap around.
Pick up and drop off available from Greenfield and Tankersley Primary Schools

Description

We aim to be an inclusive settings and are willing to make adaptations as required. We keep up to date and attend training as required and staff  have attended training to support children with specific learning difficulties and will undergo any further training as required.

How do we offer support to children or young people with a special educational need or disability?

Children's development will be measured against the Early Years Foundation Stage framework to identify any areas of extra help.   Parents will be able to talk to me if they have any concerns so we can provide the best care for their child

In partnership with other professionals and parents to meet your child's individual needs

By continually following the Early Years Foundation Stage for all children, tracking their progress and comparing their progress to the Early Years Outcomes.  Also by doing the 2 year old checks and a daily diary of activities, play, learning and rest.  To tailor the curriculum to the child's needs according to their abilities and development.

I use the Early Years Foundation Stage and complete Learning Journeys of your child's development and share theese regularly with you

The child's well being is my personal concern, I am responsible for each childs safety and security both physically and emotionally during my time.  I aim to keep them safe from harm, I will follow my behaviour policy and re-enforce positive behaviour using praise.  I continually risk assess my service and outings.  I undertake and update training when needed and review policies regularly

As with all children I would arrange visits with yourself and then short visits without you before your child started in my care to give them time to become familiar with me and me to get to know them. This settling in period is flexible, dependent on the needs of your child. I will find out as much as possible about your child eg. their likes and dislikes to help them settle. Before they move to another setting, I will write a transition report and will visit to discuss your child's individual and specific needs.

If an Education, Health and Care plan is in place, support will be available for your child. Transport, leisure and other activities are available under the authorities Local Offer for children with additional needs and disabilities.

Daily diaries, newsletters, verbal communication, emails and information on display in the doorway which will inform parents on topics we are covering, books which we are reading and any songs or rhythms we are using to aid the areas we are covering. Each child will have a learning journey and parents are asked to contribute to this regularly.

What specialist training, experience and expertise do we have relevant to children with special educational needs and disabilities?

None in the setting - but I work in partnershiip with others, for example local Family Centres and Health Visitors

None currently but I am willing to undertake any specific training required and will soon be attending SENCO training and awareness of the SEND reforms.

How accessible is our setting?

I will adapt all provision where necessary and include with correct ratios as appropriate.

There is easy access to the rear of the premises and I have a downstairs toilet.

I will buy/borrow/hire any individual resources your child needs and will also try to access any available grants to support your child.
