Worsbrough Common Family Centre : Things to Do
Worsbrough Common Family Centre is based in Worsbrough Common Primary School and is open to all the families in the Kingstone area!
The centre and the local community have a variety of different groups to offer you and your family.
What’s happening on Tuesdays:
Toddlers Group (0-5 years)- run by and based at Worsbrough Common Primary School , between 9-10:30am. This Toddler group is open to all and is for children aged 0-5. This group gives parents and children the opportunity to socialise with a cup of tea, whilst getting to take part in a range of different activities.
Growing Friends Play Group (0-5 years)– Run by and based at Worsbrough Common Family Centre, between 10:30-11:30. This group is a fantastic way to encourage healthy development in your child whilst they get the opportunity to explore their different senses by exploring different experiences. This will encourage your child’s self-awareness and their awareness of others whilst exploring their own physical development.
Looking for something on Wednesday?
First Friends Play Group (0-18 months) - Run by and based at Worsbrough Common Family Centre, between 10-11 am. This group is targeted at babies who are not yet mobile. This group will support your child’s development and allow them to experience a variety of new things. Some of these sessions will be themed and catered to the groups need such as weening and heart start. Why not bring your baby along to give them the chance to socialise and give you the chance to meet other new parents.
Take a look a what’s happening on Thursday:
Community Breakfast (all ages welcome)- run by and based at Worsbrough Common Community Centre, between 10-11:30 (fees apply). This is a fantastic group that gives you and the family the opportunity to meet up with some friends and have a cooked breakfast. The group runs a little craft area for the children and allows everyone the opportunity to socialise.
Afterschool Club (5 years +, parents must attend)- Run by and based at Worsbrough Common Family Centre, between 3:30-4:15. This group is targeted at older children and will give them the opportunity to explore in a variety of ways. We will have different themes every week and the children will chose what they want to play with and plan their own activities. This gives your child the opportunity to plan, do and review their own play and this allows them to cater to their own needs and interests with providing a safe and secure environment.
Friday fun for little ones...
Story and Rhyme (0-5 years)- run by and based at Worsbrough Common Family Centre, between 9-10:30am. This group is targeted towards children under 5 years. Story and Rhyme is a fantastic group to help encourage your child’s love for reading and singing. It will help strengthen your child’s language and communication skills whilst given them the added benefit of enjoying music and singing. It is also proven that reading to your child as young as possible will help promote a healthy relationship between your child and books. It is also a fantastic way to bond positively with you child!
Not only does your local family centre provide and support all these groups, we are also here to help. We do other targeted groups such as heartstart (beginners life support skills), parental classes, weening, oral health, adult learning and much much more.
