Caroline Jones (Childminder)
My name is Caroline Jones, I am married with three grown up children, and three grandchildren. I became a full-time registered childminder in 2002, and was graded 'Outstanding' at my last inspection (September 2017). I have completed my Early Years Foundation Degree through Huddersfield University in 2012. I am able to deliver early education funded places for eligible 2, 3 and 4 year olds, this includes the 15 hours extended entitlement. I have worked with children with additional needs for over 10 years. My first aid, food hygiene and safeguarding training are always kept up to date and I regularly attend training to update my knowledge and understanding of childcare/development issues. My childminding setting is situated in Mapplewell, near Barnsley and also close to Wakefield. We live in a terraced house where children have access to all downstairs areas of my home, including a downstairs bathroom. I have a safe enclosed garden, with playhouse, bikes, cars, see-saws, sandpits etc. I make use of local facilities such as groups, play areas and parks etc.

- Description
I have attended SEND and SENCO courses and I am up to date with training relating to this.
I have experience in caring for children with Autism. I attend regular training to keep up to date on relevant information in this area.
I will attend any training that would be necessary for any children with additional needs.
My home has three steps to the front door, the back door has one step into a conservatory, so this is easily accessible for any children/parents using mobility aids such as wheelchairs.
All children are treated as individuals and their well being is of the upmost importance.
Schools Extended Local Offer Response
- How do we offer support to children or young people with a special educational need or disability?
I will observe and record the child playing and socialising with the other children. If from recording and documentation it appears the child may have a special educational need I will speak with parents and health visitor or other proffesionals to work together in the best interest of the child.
I will encourage the child to work at their own level making sure everything is recorded and next steps are in place.
Activities will be adapted to enable the child to join in with other children The setting is an all inclusive setting.
The child will learn through play and outings inturn allowing the child to learn at their own pace all this will be documented with times and dates and some photographs. Parents can see these records as they are passed to parent at every visit and the child will be happy and feel secure.
Every child is an individual and evey child is supported by myself making sure appropriate clothing is worn and that healthy meals are provided.
The parents are invited into setting and can ring or call in when they want. The child will have a daily diary and photos of what we have been doing or where we have been. The parents are involved by doing extra activities at home and by filling out records of what the child likes and dislikes are.
