Schools Extended Local Offer Response
- How do we offer support to children or young people with a special educational need or disability?
We offer support to children who attend the setting by working with Parents and the relevant professionals to ensure that the child is fully supported both in the setting and in their own home. We support parents by attending courses/meetings alongside them to enable us to gain a holistic view of the child and to all agree what we can deliver that will be in the best interests of the child. We set up support plans where needed and have a whole setting approach towards helping and working alongside the child. All activities are differentiated according to a child’s ability and ensure that no child is excluded from such.
- What specialist training, experience and expertise do we have relevant to children with special educational needs and disabilities?
The setting has fully qualified staff with in depth knowledge of the EYFS and EYDJ and not only the SENCO has attended the SENCO training, but other members of the team as well. We have experience of working with Speech Therapists, Physiotherapists, BESST and the Social and Communication Interaction (SCI) team.
- How accessible is our setting?
The setting is very accessible via a ramp from the main school playground, with a portable ramp for exiting the step down into the play area at the back. The main room is a large airy room, on one floor with plenty of space to move around. The tables are height adjustable to cater for children with differing needs.
