Julie Waring (Childminder)

I am a qualified, Ofsted registered childminder. I am a grandmother to 4 beautiful children..  I work with 2 assistants.  I offer a safe, secure, happy environment for children to be happy and relaxed in my home while they play and learn. We have a designated playroom for arts, crafts, reading or quiet time as well as another large playroom.  We love to go on trips to woods, play groups, libraries, and what ever the weather has in store for us we will pull on our coats and wellies and make the most of  what the outdoors have to offer.  I have had my last OFSTED inspection (July 2017) and was given a GOOD grading.

I currently offer 2yr, 3yr and 4yr funded  places including the newly 30hour places.

How do we offer support to children or young people with a special educational need or disability?

I work in partnership with parents and as such at any initial visit and induction I will spend time speaking to parents about your child's individual need.I will refer parents to appropriate agencies.

I work within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)  and if I believe that your child would benefit from additional support I will work in partnership with you to provide any additional support and advice that you need.

I will support any children in any way that they need. I have completed the Special Education Needs Coordinators Training and as such I have the knowledge and support available to me to ensure the very best for your child. Should your child need any specific training that I do not currently hold I am happy to discuss this with you to see if the training is available for me to access. I will work with you to ensure that you feel comfortable leaving your child with me.

I have downstairs amenities and I have a fully accessible setting.

The Early Years Foundation Stage is an individualised play based curriculum, as such all children are unique and I work on an individual basis to help children make the progress they require before starting school and beyond.

Good communication is the most important aspct of ensuring good progress for your child. I will share on a daily basis the learning achieved during the day and then on a termly basis we will take time to speak and discuss where your child is in relation to learning and how you can support your child's learning at home.

Each child will be treated as individual and their personal, social, emotional development underpins the whole curriculum. We will discuss your childs individual progress on a termly basis but I am happy to speak to you each day at drop off or collection time.

I will work with you to ensure that your child is ready for the next stage of their education along with any other professionals including staff from other nursery settings where your child may attend as well as working in partnership with other specialists that may be involved in the care and support for your child.

I provide regular updates and I welcome feedback in relation to my setting and working with your child. You are free to talk to me at both the drop off time and collection time if you feel the need to discuss any issues.

I provide a termly newsletter with general information including welcoming new children or saying goodbye to children who may be moving on to start their school life adventure. I also share ideas for home and share activities that we have been doing together over the term.

What specialist training, experience and expertise do we have relevant to children with special educational needs and disabilities?

I work with support from the Local Authority and as such have a wide range of specialists available to ask for advice and support. If you have any specific needs then please ask to speak with me and I will endeavour to access the required support to to fully meet the needs of your child.

I have fully completed the Special Education Needs Coordinator training.

I am Paediatric First Aid Trained.

How accessible is our setting?

Whenever we arrange trips out from the setting I do not exclude any of my children and I will work with you to ensure that your child would be included. I share all information regarding forthcoming trips with parents beforehand and these are risk assessed prior to the visits.

Good accessibility throughout. There is parking outside the front door with a flat driveway.

All facilities are on the lower level including the playroom, kitchen, lounge and toilet with one small step out to the garden.

I will work to make sure that your child is able to accss resources that are beneficial to your childs individual need. This may involve hiring out specialist equipment over a preiod of time with support from the Local Authority.
