Local Offer
- Description
All children deserve the best start in life I work in partnership with parents to help meet children's needs.
Schools Extended Local Offer Response
- How do we offer support to children or young people with a special educational need or disability?
I work with the Early Years Foundation Stage and this helps me identify when a child needs additional help
I have an assistant who works on a voluntary basis, I can call on her if needed. I would access additional training/research if I took on a child with a condition I didn't know much about. Carers are welcome to stay in setting with prior notice (dependant on other children present at the time)
The Early Years Foundation Stage is an individual play based curriculum and I observe your child and plan to their individual needs. I keep detailed development records which I share with parents regularly. I also verbaly update parents daily and also keep daily diaries which can go home every day if the parent wishes .
As a home based childminder it is very important that children feel comfortable in my home and I make sure children are well settled in my setting before they start and work in partnership with other settings when children move on. I work closely with other settings sharing information so children can feel secure in their new setting
This is in partnership with yourself and other professionals. I speak to parents at drop off and pick up times. They are welcome to visit outside hours for private discussions. I also communicate via text and email.
I have a facebook page Angelas childminding where parents can see the activities we do .
I always share planning etc with carers by notice boards/letters/verbal discussion.
- What specialist training, experience and expertise do we have relevant to children with special educational needs and disabilities?
I am happy to work with any agencies your child needs including speech therapy , health visitors , doctors etc.
Spoken to doctor with regards to asthma.
I have done private research about ADHD and Autism (rang for leaflets from support groups and researched on the internet)
I will access training for other areas as and when needed
- How accessible is our setting?
There is no wheelchair access as there are steps up to both doors.
As a home based childminder I can treat each child as an individual. I get to know each child and family well . This helps me to meet their needs well on an individual basis.
When I organise activities I make sure all children are able to attend .
