Sandpit Out of School Club (1st Safari Day Nurseries Ltd)
Sandpit Nursery sits on the edge of Barnsley town centre and has been operating since 2003 and became part of the 1st Safari Day Nurseries Ltd group in 2016We are based in what used to be a Methodist Church, and extensions and modifications have been made to ensure the building is of a suitable desgin to successfully be a childcare setting.
We have 4 rooms which provide varied provision and learning experiences which cater for the individual children in our setting. We have a 0-2 room, a 2-3 room, a 3-5 room and an Out of School Club. We have a well qualified and experienced staff team with various qualifications including QTS, Level 2 and Level 3 Childcare.
Each child is assigned a key person who supports the child and their families during there time with us, from the moment they start to when they leave. Activities are also planned for children on a daily basis based around their own individual developmental needs, a child's current interests and any special events that may be happening.
In our 0-2 room we do lots of sensory exploration using things such as treasure baskets, heuristic play, food play and corn flour. We like to get very messy and do whole body painting as well as exploring books, singing nursery rhymes and playing with the animals.
In our 2-3 and 3-5 room we have sand and water areas where we can practising our filling and emptying and develop our mathematical skills. We have a role play corner were we can practise the skills we may have seen our families use at home such as making a cup of tea, making dinner or doing our hair! We also like to dress up whilst in these areas in the different costumes we have. We love to play with the animals in our small world area and make farm yards with the construction toys that we have. If we want a rest and some quiet time we can get cosy in our book corner and listen to a story. Or we can practising our writing skills in the mark making area.
We also have an Out of School Club and Holiday Club, please see our other pages on here for more details about what they provide!
In our Outdoor Areas, which all children access all year round, we can play in the mud kitchen making mud pies in the microwaves or we can develop our gross motor skills using the big slide or by playing on the bikes!
We offer places to children accessing their 2 Year Entitlement, children accessing their Nursery Education Funding (including the additional 15 hours) or children accessing Short Break Places.
We have a Facebook Page where we keep parents as up to date as possible with things that are happening at nursery including what we have been doing as well as any special events!
No two days are ever the same here at Sandpit Nursery and we aim for children and their families to leave us with fond memories of their early years!
Give us a call to see what we can offer for you and your family.
