Do you want to become a childminder?

If you would like to have a rewarding career, be your own boss, run your business from home and make a real difference to children's lives, then being a registered childminder might be just the profession for you.

You will be registered with Ofsted and be required to work to the same regulations as most other childcare settings.

More and more parents are looking for good quality childcare. We can support you in finding out if there's a need for new childminders in your area. You may also want to consider if there is a need for something different to be offered as more and more parents require flexibility to cover differing work and shift patterns as part of new models of working that are not based on the usual Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm routine.

We provide training and support to assist you with the Ofsted registration. Attend one of our "Childminding is it for you?" briefing session to find out more and take the next step in your new career.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic the 'Childminding is it for you?' information sessions are currently suspended face to face. If you would like information on becoming a childminder please contact to arrange a virtual information session or send us your phone number and someone from the Team will contact you with more information.

Alternatively please email or call Barnsley Families Information Service for more details.
