Little Jo's Day Nursery
Here at Little Jo's Day Nursery, We have 20 practitioners , All First Aid and Food Hygiene trained. Five of our staff have Early Years Degrees.
One member of staff speaks Polish. Three of our staff have had basic Makaton training with one of our staff completing the full course to become a Makaton trainer.
We have a Special Educational Needs Co-ordinators in Nursery that has completed her acredited level 3 training as well as having experience of working with children with additional needs such as Hearing impairement, Cerebal Palsy, Williams's Syndrome, Down Syndrome, Global Development Delay and ADSD.
We also have three advanced Safeguarding Leads.

We have a Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO). Level 3 Accredited Early Years SENCo Award qualification.

- How do we offer support to children or young people with a special educational need or disability?
On entry to the setting you will have the opportunity to speak to staff regarding your child's development. The SENCO's will be made aware of any additional needs on entry and observations/ assessments will be begin.
Little Jo's has regular involvement with outside agencies and will attend or chair any meetings.
We have an inclusive environment which all children can access. We have children who access Short Breaks with us.
We are a fully inclusive setting. Staff observe, Assess and Plan for children's individualised learning.
Observations support staff to plan for childrens individual needs and interests.
Regular meetings will be held between parents, key person/ SENCO.
The setting will liase closely with the childs next setting, invitng them to meetings/ discussions to ensure they have up to date, accurate information about the child. The child's key person will support with transition visits to the next setting.
We have termly parent meetings where policies are discussed.
Home/setting diarys are used to pass on daily information regarding, behaviour, foods, sleeps ect.

We are currently completing the SEND Champions peogramme.
- How accessible is our setting?
Risk Assessments are undertaken before any trip or outing.
Consideration is taken regarding location and the children taking part. Staff will make every effort to ensure all children are involved in activities outside of the classroom.
The building is fully accessible and has a ramp to the front of the building. We have a disabled toilet with height adjustable changing bed.
