Terry Robertshaw (Childminder)

I am a childminder working in the Kexborough area. I have a "Good" Ofsted outcome and I am able to provide childcare from birth to 16yrs, I also provide 2/3 year old entitlement places.  I have been offering the 30 hours funding since September 2017 for 3 & 4 yr olds. I also offer short breaks for children that have a Special Educational Need or Disability . I provide day care, before and after school and holiday care. I have a level 3 qualification in childcare and regularly attend training to update my skills and knowledge.

Description

The local offer is an online resource for parents of children or young people with special educational needs or some kind of disability. 

The purpose of the local offer is to make sure that children, young people and families can access the right information at the right time and are able to make informed choices.

How do we offer support to children or young people with a special educational need or disability?

As I work using the Early Years Foundation Stage, the process ensures that any gaps or difficulties in learning and development are identified through observation and assessment.

When families are using the setting I encourage good communication and any concerns would be discussed on an ongoing basis.  Sharing opinions and information about how the child is doing in the setting and at home and how we are encouraging development is one way of supporting improvements.

I work with parents to support children and seek support from other professionals where needed as well as attend training.  I have an inclusion policy and an inclusive environment where reasonable adjustments are made to meet individual needs.

The EYFS promotes developmentally appropriate and individual planning so the 'curriculum' is matched  to all childrens' individual needs.  

I will share all information with other settings prior to the child leaving my setting but also where possible, I also take children that are moving up to the local school soon, to the story times and singing sessions.

 i talk to parent to  provide help guidance  to involve other professional to put the right support in place for a childs needsand requirments.

At induction I will share information with you and this will continue throughout the time I care for your child.  Informaiotn is shared all the time, at pick ups and drop offs as well as with daily diaries. 

What specialist training, experience and expertise do we have relevant to children with special educational needs and disabilities?

I have worked with many agencies and specialist services concerning children with varying needs. 

I am a trained SENCO and I have attended Autism or Naughtyism
Early Bird Training as well as SEND training. 

I am willing to attend different training as needs identifiy.

How accessible is our setting?

We regularly go the local park and local amenities.  We visit places of interest such as garden centres, the museum in the Town Hall and go out for various walks to encourage key skills.

There is a step up the front and back doors and the toilet is upstairs however this may not mean that the setting is inaccecssible to you, please call and discuss your needs.
